Weeks 13 & 14: November 21st- December 1st I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!!! Last week we discussed Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for. We created handprint turkeys, played a numeral identification turkey game and played Thanksgiving Bingo. We made bracelets that correlated with a Thanksgiving story. Each bead that the children added to their bracelet represents part of the story... White: The Mayflower Blue: Ocean Green: Land Black: A hard year Brown: Turkey Red: Cranberry Sauce Yellow: Corn Orange: Pumpkin Pie Ask your child to retell the story. This week we focused on early literacy skills. We are working on naming parts of a book, identifying the title, author and illustrator and using the pages to find information / pictures / letters. The children are working on retelling stories. We are using the following story elements to help us recall important details: characters, setting, problem and solution. We are also working on making connections to the stories we are reading. We read Max the Brave. The children shared about a time that they were brave like Max. One of the favorites stories from the week was Max Found Two Sticks. The children used two sticks to create different rhythms and patterns from the story. They keep requesting to read it again and again! Gabrielle from the Kellogg Hubbard library came and read to the morning group this week and left us 22 more books for our classroom library! *Important Dates* December 26TH-January 1st: Winter Break-- No school **Reminders** Pre-Kindergarten Sick Policy: For the protection of all children attending Pre-Kindergarten, please do NOT send your child to school if they are sick, unable to play outdoors or are unable to participate in routine daily activities.
